Children of all ages love visiting the EcoTarium, a unique indoor-outdoor museum dedicated to exploring science and nature. Here, they might watch a polar bear swim, ride the Explorer Express train, walk in the treetops, or explore the legends of the starry skies in a planetarium show. They could see a live otter, a turtle, a fox, an owl. Or meet a dinosaur in the woods, take a nature walk, play in the Discovery Room, touch natural history artifacts, and peer at microscopic creatures in the dirt. The Higgins Armory Museum enjoys the distinction of being the only museum in the western hemisphere entirely devoted to the study and display of arms and armor. Artifacts ranging from Corinthian helmets of ancient Greece to ornate suits of armor from the height of the Renaissance give the visitor an exciting glimpse into the past. The permanent collection contains more than 4,600 pieces, mostly dating to the 16th and 17th centuries in addition to a variety of arms and armor from around the world. The eclectic collection is housed in a building of steel and glass Art Deco exterior. Closed Mon and select holidays.

Choose from the Oliver Wight House furnished in the Federal period or the Village Units, a family favorite. Each of our rooms has a private bath, television, telephone, and coffee maker. A continental breakfast is served daily and can be purchased separately or as part of your lodging package. The beautifully landscaped grounds include a swimming pool and picnic area. There is also an 1830’s game room for the kids. Packages with admission to Old Sturbridge Village always available. Come play in the past with us! Our new Kidstory early learning gallery invites children to use their imaginations and thinking skills as they do chores in the farmhouse, barnyard, and country store -- all dressed in 1830s frocks and vests (bring your camera!). Out in the museum Village, play 1830s games, work a water pump, milk Holly the (life-size, resin-cast) Holstein, build a stone wall or quarter-scale snake-rail fence with lightweight materials, and visit “A Child’s Life,” our new hands-on exhibit in the Fitch House. Enjoy an overnight getaway with a family package from our Lodges, dine at one of our taverns, and shop for treasures to take home at the Museum Gift Shop and New England Bookstore.

Southwick’s Zoo is situated within the historic Blackstone Valley.
